The Csoma’s Room Foundation is a group of enthusiastic volunteers who have been continuously present in Zangla, the Himalayan village where Sándor Kőrösi Csoma studied the sacred books of Tibetan Buddhism and began to write the principle work of his oeuvre, the frst Tibetan-English dictionary. The aim of the foundation is to help the exchange of living knowledge, experience and values between cultures drawing inspiration from Csoma’s legacy. The main activities include the preservation of cultural heritage, sustainable development projects, the building of a sun school and education. In the frst, pilot stage of its operation, in 2008 the foundation began the renovation of the palace in Zangla, where Csoma lived. The Csoma Solar School opened in Zangla in 2015 thanks to the work of the foundation, and the construction of the Sight to Sky Solar School in Tenpo began in 2017, while a community solarisation project was launched in 2018.
