Collective fruit processing building
Realization
2014
Location
Markóc
In 2009, when looking for a location for her architecture degree project, Veronika Holczer discovered Markóc, a village in the Ormánság region, where the Ormánság Foundation has been operating for some years. The foundation’s main activity in this disadvantaged region is to realise self-sustaining farming and within that to cultivate, disseminate, encourage and teach adaptive fruit production. Veronika chose the renovation of an old shed and its conversion into a communal space as the theme for her degree project. Initially, she planned a multifunctional space with its main function aimed at collective fruit processing but also serving as a venue for other events. After she completed her degree project herself, she, a local team of builders and some volunteering architect students from BUTE University worked together to do the structural renovation of the selected shed.
