Workshop and Rehearsal Centre of the Hungarian State Opera and the Erkel Theatre

The conversion of the former Eiffel Hall – once the Northern Vehicle Repair Shop – in Kőbánya into a workshop and rehearsal centre will allow the Hungarian State Opera to carry out all the production works for their new performances and to-be-renewed old performances in one location. The facility will cater to many functions, such as doing the stage settings and making the costumes and stage sets, while rehearsals and possibly the dress rehearsals will be held here too. The orchestra rehearsal room will be suitable for carrying out complete opera recordings. An important objective of the project was to preserve the Eiffel Hall, now a listed monument, another three protected office buildings constructed at around the same time, as well as the former truck repair shop and blacksmith workshop, and to adapt them to suit new functions.
