Budapest, 2016
The design competition invited proposals for the functional reconstruction of Gellért Hill, as well as possible development concepts of the architectural, landscaping and fne arts solutions for the area’s revitalisation, including creative ideas that would potentially contribute to the quality park development of Gellért Hill and provide alternatives for adding recreational/tourism functions to the un-landscaped areas, while preserving the natural treasures of the site. The priority aim of the competition is to receive and study concepts for the utilisation of the Citadella suitable to reflect the role the fortress plays in Budapest (and in Hungary) and to facilitate the renewal of Gellért Hill. The architects were given a free hand in developing their concepts.
