Arkt Art Supply Cultural Space and Gallery

Location
Eger

The idea of the Arkt Art Supply Cultural Space and Gallery emerged in 2014. The team contacted the local government, asking if a building no one had any use for could be placed at their disposal. The selected building was once used by the Business and Technology Supplies and Services Organisation but had been standing empty for years. The renovation works were completed solely based on building, social and institutional collaboration, without the need for fnancial transfers. The result of this project is the Arkt Art Supply engineering, art and cultural centre with exhibition spaces, workshops and a communal space. Thanks to the architectural thinking and active collaboration a building seen as worthless in the past is now a venue full life, providing a positive example of proactivity and the power of communities. The story of this project was presented in the Hungarian Pavilion of the 15th Venice International Architectural Biennial of 2016.
