Budapest100 – open house weekend

Location
Budapest

The Budapest100 programme is a civil urban festival organised by volunteers, initiated in 2011 by OSA– Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives and KÉK (Centre for Contemporary Architecture. A Budapest100 weekend is organised every spring with the aim of knitting the residential communities and urban population closer together through Budapest’s built heritage, i.e. through the celebration of buildings in Budapest that are 100 years old in the given year. Public events were held on the 120-year-old Great Boulevard (Nagykörút) in 2016, along the Danube embankment in 2017 and in Budapest’s most likeable squares in 2018, while in 2019 – the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus – participants will be able to explore some residential and public buildings of Hungarian modern architecture. Reflecting the truth of the festival’s permanent motto –“Every building is interesting” – architectural history research is carried out about all the buildings.
