Following a tender in 1970, the client – effectively ruining the building – built permanent partition walls and reinforced concrete grandstands onto the formerly confgurable contiguous space under the suspended roof. Due to the unprofessional alterations and lack of proper maintenance, its condition deteriorated and it looked out of place in its surroundings. It was then listed as a protected building, and the city engaged a different architect to oversee its renovation; but due to fnancial and other problems, the original architect was later asked for a proposal on how to meet the new functional and spatial needs to create the multifunctional space specifed in the original tender and adapt the building to its new environment. Despite all the alterations and extensions, the original building mass remains dominant.
