Architect
MARIANNA NAGY
Year of inauguration
2015
Location
Debrecen

The task was to express the loss in a way that made it memorable purely through the use of architectural tools, deliberately avoiding direct symbols and direct depiction, and drawing on the Jewish traditions of remembrance. The basis for the concept was not to create a monument, but a place of remembrance, which – as a community space – could become a part of local cultural life and events. The names of more than 6000 victims from Debrecen are displayed on steel plates on the wall of remembrance.
