The Museum of Ethnography will move to a building designed to satisfy the requirements of its collection for the frst time in its 145-year-long history, thanks to the Liget Budapest Project. The restricted international tender was won by NAPUR Architect, whose building will stand as a special gateway welcoming visitors to the City Centre. With its curved form the museum will function as a gate and a passage connecting the city and the park. Sixty percent of the building will be under the ground level, while the scale of the new museum will be adapted to its environment through the transparency of its parts above the ground and its landscaped roof. One of the design’s most spectacular elements is the landscaped garden that will cover the entire roof like two hillsides and function as a pleasant public space for visitors to the park.
