National Heritage Park and Visitor Centre

Architect
ISTVÁN MURKA
Year of inauguration
2015
Location
Ópusztaszer

The new visitor centre in Ópusztaszer is a modern, contemporary building with ties to the local culture and people. It makes no attempt to upstage the other buildings in the park (Szeged Gate, Rotunda) with its mass and appearance, but neither does it imitate them. When determining the scale and designing the interior spaces, besides fulflling the functional needs, the main objective of the concept was to create a people-centred building that blends in with the natural environment. In addition to the Visitor Centre a maintenance and heritage conservation workshop, as well as a building providing guest accommodation were also built.
