Outside the castle wall, but still in close proximity to it, at the nexus of a diversity of ambiences: the southern and western side have a cosy, small-town feel, while the Barbican displays an urban architectural character, so this duality also needs to be present in some form in the apartment building. The connection with Báthory Street is reflected in the monolithic building mass that appears ‘sewn’ to the Barbican block. The ‘perforated’ view of the castle wall through this ‘stitching’ is another expression of this duality.
