The Castle Garden Kiosk formed part of the large-scale development plan hallmarked by the name of Miklós Ybl and aimed at the reconstruction of the Castle Garden and the embankment of the Danube. The steam-operated water utility and pump house provided with a café a loggia and a garden was built in the second half of the 19th century and became known for its neo-Renaissance architecture. Having lost its original function in 1905 and damaged in the world wars, the building was fully renovated, observing monument protection regulations, in 1991-1992 to be used as a casino. That project had the same lead architect as that of the Ybl Buda Creative House implemented in 2018, aimed at creating a new space for community events, glazing the loggia and building a recessed garden entrance.
