The chapel was built in six days, each corresponding to a different station of the cross. By the frst evening, the framework of triangular trusses was standing. The wind blew through it, and the landscape was visible between the beams. On the second and third days the intermediate layer, the weatherboarding, was applied to the frame. On the next day the shingles were added. These were hewn, not sawn, and were the product of six months’ work by an old Székely craftsman. On the sixth day the bell was hoisted into place and the construction was complete. As we left, we looked back from the last bend in the road to see the chapel floating above the landscape in the light of the setting sun.
