Super Computer Centre

The two-storey building for the super computer of the National Information Infrastructure Development Institute was constructed on the Kassai Road campus of Debrecen University. The basic shape of the design is a cube. The service functions are grouped on the entrance side, and behind it is the main room housing the super computer. The building has a dual character defned by dynamic tension and lyricism. The former is created by the joint use of the enclosed, two-storey mass and the high closure wall, while the latter is achieved through the addition of a relief to the main facade made of simple materials and bearing a well-defned grid-like pattern of interconnected, bifurcating, interrupted and rejoining lines.
