Wind-blow Icon | Conference and community building, Riga

Design
DR. PÉTER MAGYAR

The design was made for an international tender published by Riga supported by the International Association of Architects to invite concepts for a building housing four auditoriums and a community place. Unlike the planned 4x25 persons, the proposed design of the four auditoriums grew out of an originally four-sided then a pentagonal based pyramid with decreasing dimensions and a seating capacity between 175 and 325 seats to meet the requirements of seating 1,000 people. The sizes of the buildings decrease upwards, hence the shape of the pentagonal pyramid, with wind turbines at the top 10 levels. The architect's intentions being used in several cases that the geometry of the building is almost voluntary to accommodate the requested activities. The design has been listed among the best 16 at the World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam in 2018.
