The main building of Palatinus Baths, which houses the summer entrance to the facility as well as the lockers and changing rooms, is an iconic monument of modern Hungarian architecture. In addition to restoring the facility’s original appearance, the objective of the project was to add a thermal section that can be used all year round. The original, functionalist building was suitable for catering to new spaces and functions: the former locker area now houses a two-level pool facility, while the grid of pillars, the structure and the concept of the original design were retained. The focus was on the structure: the portal and entrance hall, the corridors on both sides, as well as the passage open towards the baths and ftted with external spiral stairways.
