New Danube Bridge international design competition

The Hungarian government and the municipality of Budapest jointly announced a restricted international tender for the design of a bridge connecting South Buda with Csepel. The new bridge may create the much-needed fast and direct connection between Csepel and its environs as well as with the surrounding districts in the Buda and Pest sides. Such a project has been supported by professional circles since the 1980s. The jury awarded the frst prize to a bridge with 2×3 trafc lanes and potential tram lines, which they described as unique and elegant, while exuding dynamism and strength.
