In the early 1950s, the larger part of the Hungarian Academy of Art and Design was housed in the complex designed by Zoltán Farkasdy in Zugliget, while some of the workshops operated in the Museum of Applied Arts. As the educational structure and functions of the institution were gradually extended, the space they required had to be reconsidered. The frst concept only proposed the construction of a building for workshops but it was later recommended that the entire area be reconstructed. The sloping of the site provided a natural separation between the duo of the Workshops and Media Studios, called the Technological Park, and the educational buildings.
