“The frst phase of the reconstruction of Rudas baths focused on the northern, historically most valuable section of the architectural ensemble. The renovation of the almost 500-yearold, spatially unique Turkish bath with its cupola supported by eight pillars and that of the adjoining service areas was based on archaeological and restoration research and satisfes the most exacting requirements of monument protection. The facade reconstruction breaks with the previous practice of concealing the different sections of the ensemble built in different periods with a generic coating and applying a fne didactic approach it makes the ’evolution’ of the building ensemble readable almost step by step through the use of different colour schemes that ft in with the given periods.” (Miklós Okrutay)
