The entrance of the tourist information and visitors’ centre at the famous Turul Bird statue on Mt. Kőhegy in Tatabánya divides the building into two symmetrical halves. Tapering at both ends on the north-south axis, it focuses on the forest. The entrance is flanked by two gate sculptures evoking the mountain ridges. Three ridges are were made of stone from the Gerecse region: red marble from Tardos, grey sandstone from Keselő Mountain, or calcite and Süttő limestone. The latter can also be found on both sides of the gateway passage that also serves as an exhibition space. The passage opens onto the high-ceilinged, open exhibition hall with exposed roof trusses that houses the Gerecse exhibition, and onto the restaurant.
