Cannon Foundry of György Rákóczi I

The cannon foundry of György Rákóczi I operated between 1631 and 1648 in Sárospatak Castle. The research conducted following the archaeological excavations, gathering together contemporary pictures and written records from all over Europe, culminated in identifcation of the details of the former foundry and the reconstruction of its most important units: the furnace and casting pit. The reconstruction of the foundry is shown in an exhibition housed in the pavilion constructed over the remains of the furnace.
