The starting point for developing the area around the remains of the mediaeval university in Pécs was the ruined site of the Aranyos Mária Chapel, which became the predominant monument on the site. The spatial structure that existed while the chapel was in use was reconstructed as a part of the project. Consequently, the elevations, and the layout and height of the supporting walls, reflect the state that had emerged at the end of the 14th century. Not every detail of the layout of the supporting wall is known, however; and therefore the new fall supporting the elevation takes the same route as the original, but was constructed in a way that clearly distinguishes it from the original parts, as a gabion wall flled with basalt stone.
