The concept defned this former riding hall as a visitor centre showcasing the history and heritage of the Batthyány family, also serving as the central reception building for the castle complex, as a starting point for exploring the city’s many cultural attractions and tourist sites. The architects designed space and surfaces to achieve the airiest, most open spaces possible. The wall claddings, ceiling elements and furnishings invoke the form of the acoustic panels used in the auditorium. The colours were inspired by the Batthyány family’s famous medicinal ‘electuary’. In the auditorium, the aim was to emphasise the surviving interior façade of the listed building. The ‘pared-down’ minimalist set of design elements reinforces the simplicity of the former stable.
