A church is a house for both the individual and the community, a bridge between heaven and earth, the sacred and the earthly, a place for the individual to form a personal relationship with God and the universe. At the same time, in addition to its church function, the space also serves as a venue for local musical and artistic events. When deciding on the church’s dimensions, form and the materials to be used, it was these two main considerations that defned the structure of the interior space, which invokes past eras with its multiple cupolas, yet can still be claimed by people of today as their own. The new church and the landscaping of its surroundings has restored the architectural identity of this former village centre.
