The two decades of planning and construction brought challenges for both the architect and the congregation, but above all the project provided a channel for the revitalisation of the community. The building complex has maintained its architectural integrity throughout this difcult process. Embedded in local history, reflecting the influence of twentieth century Scandinavian styles, it seeks its identity in a paraphrasing of the question asked by the poet Mihály Babits: what is Hungarian here and now, in the force-feld of the turn of the millennium?
