The building of the research centre was designed to harmonise with the already existing cultural and educational institutions located in Central Ferencváros, and with the higher education academic centre, located on the opposite bank of the Danube. The design follows a puritan, severe organisational principle; the articulation of the facades and masses naturally deconstructs the larger scale of the ensemble. The low aula wing connecting the Humanities, the Social Sciences and the Library towers marks out the place for the main entrance. The building is lent spaciousness by the aula’s glass roof and the open sidecorridors of the frst floor. Natural light floods into the aula through the glass walls of the facade and the skylight.
