Kaposvár Railway Station has been a listed building since 2011. Its departure building was built in 1900 to the designs of Ferenc Pfaff. The building in Kaposvár also served as a model for others in Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare, Romania) and Versec (Vršac, Serbia). The latter building retains the most of the original interior motifs, and these were used as an authentic source of information when researching the details of the restoration work. This was the frst opportunity for a comprehensive renovation and restoration of the almost 120-year-old building. As a part of this, the building, its façade and passenger areas regained their original form and were restored to their former glory. The operational areas were extended and modernised. The narrow public square in front of the building was also reborn.
