The design site is located in the northern part of Iceland, on the banks of Lake Mývatn, on a hillside created by a basalt lava eruption. The close environment is characterized by pseudocraters and lava columns, and the area has excellent view to the northern light. The style of the community space and the family home is inspired by the Icelandic folk architecture, while the cabins evoke one of the typical formations of the volcanic landscape, the basalt blocks. The structure of the building is made of glued timber beams, the facade surface, similar to the cabins, is covered with wood panels.
