Design laboratory for ocean waste recycling

The building is situated in Porto, on a breakwater at the mouth of the ocean and the sea. The main objectives during the planning were to provide a connection between the facility and the vessels, to preserve the original function of the pier and extend it with new ones as well as to develop an attractive design for the buildings that tallies with the already existing features of the pier and ensure the optimum exploitation of renewable energy sources. The waste is collected by and processed on the ship that belongs to the plant, while the building is the venue for training programmes as well as for the making and sale of the fnished products.
