Budapest District XIII Mayor’s Office set out to revitalise this site on the boundary of a housing estate and less densely built-up residential area, in a programme that was defned on the basis of a local needs assessment. There was justifcation for creating a ‘small centre’ for the provision of local services, in a micro-environment that displays a contemporary, quality architectural character and reflects the unique personality of the district. The building’s two lower floors house commercial, community and health services, while the upper storeys are comprised of apartments opening onto a courtyard with a glass roof. The interior of the green ‘mound’ contains a grocery store and other smaller shops.
